The most appropriate driving course for you will depend on how many driving lessons that you have already had, if any, and what you have learned in those driving lessons.
Our courses are strictly one to one so that your instructor can tailor the course to suit you. Each day of the course will consist of two sessions of three hours, usually 9am - 12pm and 1pm - 4pm although those times can be adjusted to fit in with your child care arrangements or work shifts if necessary by prior arrangement with your instructor.
Most people arrange their intensive driving course to coincide with a Practical Driving Test. If that is the case you must have passed your Driving Theory Test when you book your course. We will be happy to arrange a Practical Test for you or fit in with a test you have already booked, if possible. We only take pupils for test at the Newbury or Basingstoke test centres.
Please note that we do not recommend taking your practical test on the last day of your intensive driving course. Far better to have the test arranged at least three clear working days after the end of the course. Three clear working days is the minimum amount of notice that the Driving Standards Agency require to change or cancel a test appointment without losing your test fee. Before booking a course please be sure to check our Terms and Conditions with regard to using your instructors car for the test. You may not be allowed to use the car if your instructor is of the opinion that your driving is not up to the required standard. Choosing the correct length of course for your current experience and ability will avoid any problems. If you are unsure why not take a 2 hour introductory lesson for £30. Your instructor will then be able to advise you on the most suitable course.
A few days break will also ensure that you are rested and refreshed for the big day. These driving courses are very intensive and pupils are often surprised at how tired they are feeling by the end of each day. It is our experience that pupils who take a test on the last day of the course do not perform as well on test as those who take a few days break. During a driving course most people find that they struggle with some aspect of driving more than others. This is perfectly normal, so don't worry time has been built into the course to allow for it. We also find that not having the pressure of a test on the last day helps you to relax, enjoy your learning and stops molehills turning into mountains.
By the end of your intensive course our goal is that you will be driving confidently and safely on all types of roads from rural lanes, through town centres and out on to fast dual carriageways. You should also be able to carry out all of the manoeuvring exercises that may be included on a test confidently and accurately every time.
Our aim is to make you a safe and confident driver and in so doing ensure that you pass your practical driving test with ease - first time.
